The Accademia della Follia, the theater company made up of “professional madmen and actors by vocation”, was born in the seventies in Trieste by Claudio Misculin, multifaceted director, actor and mad-actor in the context of the Basaglian revolution and the resulting cultural movement. Through theatrical research Claudio manages to build a unique and innovative reality to which he dedicates his entire life, convinced that by valuing madness of his actors, as surplus value, it is possible to overcome and break down the condition of “illness”, even in a society that shuns everything that seems to stray from the norm. In over thirty years and hundreds of performances, the Accademia has demonstrated to the world that madness is a resource and part of normality. Now that Claudio is gone, all his actors continue to live in the indelible path traced by their master managing once again to stage their art and make possible what it seems impossible.
